Kumbhalgarh Fort

Near Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh fort is the second most important fort after Chittourgarh fort in the Mewar Region. Built by Rana Kumbha, the fort is well nestled amidst the Aravalli Ranges. The fort also offers an excellent spot for bird watching in Kumbhalgarh. This fort with 36 kms thick wall was renovated in the 19th century. The Kumbhalgarh Fort is also important in being the birthplace of Maharana Pratap and also houses an inner small fort Kartargarh made by Maharaja Fateh Singh.

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary

Kumbhalgarh is a known for its two important tourist destinations - Kumbhalgarh Fort and Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary. Located on the Udaipur - Pali - Jodhpur road, the wildlife sanctuary adjoins the historical Kumbalgarh Fort. Amidst the verdant green stretches on the outskirts of Udaipur, Kumbalgarh is the only wildlife sanctuary of Rajasthan, where wolf is found abundantly. The Joba area of the sanctuary has more than forty wolves that is the highest wolf population in India found in a wildlife sanctuary.

Ranakpur Temples

Ranakpur in Rajasthan is one of the five most important Jain pilgrimage tourist destinations. Ranakpur is named after the great Rajput warrior Rana Kumbha of Rajasthan. The Ranakpur Temples nestled well in the Aravalli ranges were constructed in 1439 AD. Made of amber stone, the Ranakpur temples in the Pali district near Udaipur date back to the 15th century. The main temple is a Chaumukh or a four-faced temple dedicated to Adinath. There are 24 pillared halls, 4 subsidiary shrines and domes supported by more than 400 columns. Within the same complex, there are three other temples including a temple of the Sun God.
